Stoneware Hunt Scene Pitcher, Stamped "AMERICAN POTTERY CO. / JERSEY CITY, N.J.", circa 1840, molded pitcher with relief design of a hounds taking down a boar and deer, the collar with relief grapevine motif, the handle in the form of a hound with open tail. Exterior covered in a chocolate-brown Albany slip glaze. Interior covered in a whitish Bristol slip glaze. Underside impressed with American Pottery Company maker's mark. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with a glazed-over base chip. H 10 5/8".
