Rare Rockingham Rebekah-at-the-Well Teapot, Stamped "J. MAYER / TRENTON, N.J", circa 1870, molded teapot with relief image on two sides of a woman standing beside a well, embossed "REBEKAH AT THE WELL" below. Surface decorated with a reddish-brown glaze over a yellowish ground. Underside impressed with large impressed mark of J. Mayer, proprietor of the Arsenal Pottery of Trenton, NJ. Includes original domed lid with relief leaf motif. Hairlines on underside of teapot, continuing a short distance onto base. Lid with 7/8" edge chip. A tiny chip to top edge of teapot. H (including lid) 7".
