Two Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Canning Jars, Western PA and WV origin, circa 1875, both of tapered form with "wax sealer" rims, one stenciled "A. CONRAD / SHINNSTON. / W.VA.", the other stenciled "JOHN P. EBERHARDT & CO. / NEW GENEVA, PA." Conrad jar with heavy chipping to inner wax sealer rim, additional chips to interior of jar's rim, minor base chips, and some light surface wear. Eberhardt jar in excellent condition with a minor chip to interior of rim and a small in-the-firing contact mark to inner wax sealer rim, as well as some faint traces of orange paint to surface. H (of Eberhardt jar) 8 3/8".
