Two Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jars with Alexandria, VA Advertising, Western PA origin, circa 1875, half-gallon and one-and-a-half-gallon cylindrical jars, both stenciled "E.J. MILLER & SON. / DEALERS IN / CHINA AND / GLASS WARE. / ALEXANDRIA, VA". Larger example with freehand cobalt brushwork. Smaller jar in excellent condition with some staining and smooth in-the-firing discolored spot on reverse. Larger jar in good condition with some tight surface lines from rim and at base, not visible on interior.
