Unusual Five-Gallon Three-Handled Stoneware Jar with Alkaline Glaze, Catawba Valley, NC origin, fourth quarter 19th century, ovoid jar with angled shoulder, narrow opening with squared mouth, two applied lug handles at the sides and a pulled handle on reverse. Surface covered in a drippy olive-colored alkaline glaze. Impressed "5" on front. A thin crack extending several inches from rim on reverse.
