Two-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jug with Stenciled Rose Motif, Western PA origin, circa 1875, ovoid jug with tooled spout, decorated with a large stenciled design of a stemmed rose with open blossom, leaves, and bud, above a stenciled "2", flanked by flourishes. Freehand stripe to base. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Very nice condition with a base chip.
