Four-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Stenciled "A. CONRAD. / MONONGAHELA / POTTERY. / NEW GENEVA / PA", circa 1875, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, featuring Alexander Conrad maker's stenciling, small stenciled decoration, a freehand stripe below rim, and a stenciled "4" flanked by foliate designs. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Excellent condition with a 3 1/2" inverted Y-shaped surface line to far left side of jar's front, not visible on interior, a 1 1/2" salt drip to front, and a minor chip to interior of rim.
