One-Gallon Stoneware Butter Crock with Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to Henry Harrison Remmey, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1850, cylindrical form with heavy banding to shoulder and applied lug handles, decorated with brushed floral and foliate motifs on the front and reverse. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals along with a curving line of cobalt underneath each handle. Shallow chipping around rim. A thin 2" crack from rim. An in-the-firing stone ping below one handle.
