Outstanding Stoneware Pitcher with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to Richard C. Remmey, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1865, ovoid pitcher with footed base and tooled accents to body and collar, the front lavishly-decorated with three double-stemmed flowering plants emanating from a stripe at the base, separated by small swags. Further decorated above with two rows of elliptical brushwork flanking a series of swags. Collar decorated with large cobalt leaves. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with only minor flaws. A 1/2" glazed-over chip to left side of pitcher. A small in-the-firing contact mark to right side of pitcher. Some saltiness to right side of pitcher. A small chip to right side of rim. H 9 3/4".
