Rare Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Stenciled Cobalt Star and Floral Decoration, Stenciled "ENEIX & EVANS / STONY / POINT POTTERY / NEW GENEVA, PA", circa 1875, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, applied lug handles, and semi-rounded rim, the shoulder decorated with a band of seven stenciled stars above a large stenciled rose motif. Signed below with elaborate maker's stenciling for the short-lived partnership, Eneix & Evans. Base with large stenciled "5" flanked by stenciled flowers. Freehand stripe below rim. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. A rare New Geneva maker with appealing stenciled decoration. Excellent, essentially as-made condition.
