Rare Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped"WILLSON'S & YOUNG / HARRISBURG PA," circa 1855, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, applied lug handles, and semi-squared rim, decorated with a brushed design of a tulip plant bearing four blossoms and a zig-zagging stem at the center. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Strong decoration and color, featuring one of the rarest and most desirable Harrisburg, PA maker's marks. Some in-the-making base chipping on reverse. A 1" lime ping at shoulder on reverse. Some faint crazing to base and rim, not visible on interior. Inner rim for lid with a small chip and two minor nicks.
