Three-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Cobalt Clover Decoration, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1870, large-sized, ovoid pitcher with footed base, decorated with a two-stemmed clover plant extending up the front. Collar decorated with a single clover on each side. Spout flanked by swags. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Impressed "3" below spout. Exceptional size. Large section of spout restored, extending to right side of collar, including painted touch-up to most of the cobalt swags to the right of the spout. A 4 1/2" hairline to left of spout. Some faint, minor lines on underside, probably in-the-firing. H 15".
