Scarce One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Game Bird Decoration, Stamped "FORT EDWARD / POTTERY CO.", NY State origin, circa 1858, cylindrical jug with tapered spout decorated with a slip-trailed design of a game bird, possibly a wild turkey, standing on a foliate spray. Light cobalt highlights to maker's mark. Horizontal crack through handle. Residue from use along edge of corked spout. Two small chips to edge of spout. A small, glazed-over in-the-firing flake to edge of spout. Traces of old paint to handle.
