Five-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "N, CLARK, JR / ATHENS. NY", circa 1840, ovoid jug with flared spout, decorated with a large flowering plant bearing five blossoms with protruding stamens. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Some fry to cobalt. A 5/8" chip to side of spout. Some light staining.
