Fine Alkaline-Glazed Double Face Jug with Rock Teeth, Signed "Lanier Meaders," Cleveland, GA, circa 1970, Rare Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Double Face Jug, ovoid jug with applied double handles, decorated on each side with a hand-modeled face with rock teeth, kaolin eyes, and black-glazed pupils. One face is smiling, while the other looks indifferent. Surface covered in a mottled olive-green alkaline glaze. Incised on underside "Lanier Meaders". A fine and early example by Georgia's most esteemed 20th century folk potter. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, which recently surfaced in a MA collection. Excellent, as-made condition.
