Rare Quart-Sized Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar with Stenciled Crown Motif, Western PA origin, circa 1875, semi-ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded rim, decorated with an intricate stenciled design of a crown with cross. Freehand cobalt stripes above and below. The stenciled crown motif on this jar indicates it was made for Baltimore, MD merchant, D.F. Haynes. Exceptional size. Excellent condition with minor wear to cobalt. H 5 7/8".
