Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Canning Jar with Cottageville, WV Advertising, Western PA origin, circa 1875, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder and "wax sealer" rim, the front featuring the stenciled advertising, "ABE McCOY. / GENERAL / MERCHANDISE. / COTTAGEVILLE. W.V". An approximately 2 1/2" Y-shaped line on underside, continuing as a thin crack 3 3/4" up side of jar. A 7/8" line from rim on front. A 1 /8" chip to interior of rim. A small chip and minor nick to inner wax sealer rim. H 5 7/8".
