Two Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jars, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG, PA", circa 1865, both of two-gallon capacity and cylindrical form, one with a brushed stem bearing oval leaves, the other with a brushed design of a spitting tulip flanked by graduated blossoms. Foliate-decorated jar with rim chip, small rim nick, a short line to collar, faint traces of old paint to surface, minor wear to one handle, a small chip to opposite handle, and wear to inner rim for lid. Other jar with significant painted restoration to collar, shoulder, and handles, the true extent of which is unknown; possibly overzealous. Restoration does not touch decoration. Additionally, a faint line to base on front and wear to inner rim for lid.
