Four-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Beaver, PA origin, circa 1870, tapered jar with tooled shoulder, semi-squared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a large, undulating fuchsia vine design below a freehand "4", all applied over slip-coated clay. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. A 1" area of shallow chipping to front terminal of right handle. Some dry drips of slip residue running vertically on left side of jar from base.
