Four-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "J. WEAVER", Beaver, PA origin, circa 1865, ovoid jar with tooling to body and shoulder, flattened rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a series of three conjoined tulips below a series of vertically-brushed swags, applied over slip-coated clay. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and handle terminals. Provenance: Collection of Harry Meyer, McDonald, PA. A 2 1/2" loss to rim on reverse. A very faint 1 3/4" line to base on side of jar, not visible on interior. Some scattered fry to cobalt.
