Georgius Rex Stoneware Jug with Incised Decoration, Westerwald, Germany origin, circa 1740, ovoid jug with footed base and combed incising to collar, the front decorated with a molded and applied "GR" medallion, surrounded by profuse incised and impressed decoration including stars. Heavy cobalt highlights to body. Manganese highlight to collar. A faintly-brushed cobalt "3" beside lower handle terminal. Two in-the-firing surface chips to body of jug, measuring 1" and 5/8". in-the-firing surface chip to front of jug. Group of three faint vertical lines to collar, each measuring approximately 1 1 1/2". H 8 1/4".
