Scarce One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "HUMISTON & WARNER / SOUTH-AMBOY, N.J," circa 1830, highly-ovoid jug with tooled spout, decorated with a brushed design of an open-centered flower emanating from a curved stem. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, purchased by the consignor decades ago. Very nice condition with some minor surface flakes to left side of jug, two short, faint lines at base, probably in-the-firing, and very minor wear to base and spout.
