Twenty-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar with Stenciled Eagle Motif, Stenciled "WILLIAMS & REPPERT. / GREENSBORO. PA", circa 1885, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, applied lug handles, and semi-rounded rim; decorated across the shoulder with freehand stripes and vining, at the midsection with Williams & Reppert maker's stenciling and stenciled tulips, above a stenciled medallion featuring a Federal eagle's bust. Base inscribed with a freehand "20" flanked by flourishes, above straight and wavy freehand stripes. Brushed cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Excellent condition with some minor chipping to handle. H 25 1/2".
