Fine Two-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar with Profuse Freehand Decoration, Stenciled "JAMES HAMILTON & Co. / GREENSBORO. Pa.", circa 1870, semi-ovoid jar with semi-rounded rim and tooled accents to midsection and shoulder, the front featuring James Hamilton maker's stenciling in large block letters, along with freehand vining, several stripes, and a fancy script "2" at base, flanked by graduated dashes. Attractive top-to-bottom brushwork and stenciling. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with a salt drip to front.
