Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1840, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, squared rim, and ribbed lug handles, decorated on the front and reverse with a brushed swag and hanging flower designs. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals with a line of cobalt curving underneath each handle. A long hairline at base, which continues across underside. A thin 3 1/2" crack extending from rim through one handle. Chips to ends of one handle. A small chip to one end of opposite handle.
