One-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1860, ovoid pitcher with squared spout, decorated around the body with alternating swag and hanging flower designs. Spout decorated with brushed swags. Additional swag decoration on the sides of the collar. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, from a forty-year private collection. A sealed top-to-bottom crack from rim on reverse, which forms a "Y" on underside that additionally extends a short distance onto base in two places. Two rim chips and two minor rim nicks.
