Two-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Cake Crock,, attributed to Richard C. Remmey, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1885, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, applied lug handles, and semi-rounded rim, decorated on the front and reverse with a long vine motif. Handles surrounded in cobalt highlights. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, from a forty-year Maryland collection. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with some mottling to surface and some traces of water glass on interior.
