One-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1840, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, squared rim, and applied tab handles, decorated with a double-stemmed flowering plant design on the front and reverse. Brushed cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, from a forty-year Maryland collection. Essentially as-made condition with a salt drip to handle area and a ring-shaped contact mark to flower on one side where cobalt burned off during the firing.
