Scarce Tanware Flowerpot with Ring Handles, New Geneva or Greensboro, PA origin, circa 1885, ovoid flowerpot with tooled shoulder, flared rim, and attached saucer, the sides fitted with applied loops and free-swinging ring handles. Front decorated in Albany slip with a sweeping vine bearing swags and two large, open-center tulips, along with straight and wavy line decoration above. Loops and ring handles decorated with daubs of Albany slip. Freehand stripe to saucer. A difficult-to-find, distinctive Western Pennsylvania form. One loop and ring restored. A 5/8" chip to side of rim. A small flake to rim on front with two associated short lines to rim area. Typical residue to base area from use. H 7 3/4" ; Diameter (across opening) 6 1/4".
