Rare One-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Pitcher, Stenciled "A. CONRAD / NEW / GENEVA, / FAYETTE / CO. PA.", circa 1875, ovoid pitcher with tooling to rim and base of collar, the body stenciled with the maker's mark, "A. CONRAD / NEW / GENEVA. / FAYETTE / CO. PA.", flanked by stenciled sheaves of wheat and flourishes. Relatively few signed Alexander Conrad pitchers have survived. Provenance: Collection of Lorren Lambert, Staunton, VA; Garth's, March 20, 1982. Some restoration to spout and areas along top edge of rim. A thin, restored 5" crack from rim on side of pitcher. Area of faint crazing to left of decoration near base, extending a short distance onto underside. A 1 1/8" salt drip to side of pitcher.
