One-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Pittsburgh, PA Advertising, Western PA origin, circa 1875, cylindrical jar featuring the stenciled advertising "OMMERT & HOFFIELD. / NO. 13 / DIAMOND / PITTS", including freehand straight and wavy stripe decoration above and below. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, from a small collection of Pittsburgh advertising stoneware consigned to this auction. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with a small in-the-firing ping on reverse, which is glazed over, and some light water glass staining to interior shoulder area.
