Rare One-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Coggled Decoration, attributed to the Thompson Pottery, Morgantown, WV, circa 1855, cylindrical jar with flattened, semi-rounded rim, the shoulder decorated with a coggled vine design, above a one-gallon Thompson Pottery capacity mark. Two chips to bottom edge. A shallow chip and minor in-the-firing pig to interior of rim. Three tight lines to body, possibly in-the-firing. Two additional in-the-firing lines to shoulder, which are glazed over.
