Four-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Deer Decoration, Stamped "J.A. & C.W. UNDERWOOD / FORT EDWARD, N.Y.", circa 1865-1867, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, applied lug handles, and semi-rounded rim, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a deer with cobalt-highlighted head and body, reclining between two shrubs. Large area of restoration to surface below and to left of decoration, including some touch-up to areas of cobalt. Some unrestored exfoliation to underside. A glazed-over iron ping to rim.
