One-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "WHITE'S UTICA", New York State origin, circa 1870, cylindrical crock with rounded rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a fan-tailed bird perched on a stylized branch. Cobalt highlight to maker's mark. Provenance: Dr. Raymond L. Owen Collection. Some fry to cobalt. Some light staining. A shallow in-the-firing contact mark to top of rim. Two tiny nicks to underside at edge.
