Scarce Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "ADAM GREEN / NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ", circa 1875, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, flared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a bird perched on a leaf accented with spots. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Spider crack on underside, including a 9" crack to left of bird. An approximately 7" Y-shaped hairline to front. Some in-the-firing separations to cobalt. Staining to surface. A minor nick to inner rim for lid.
