One-Gallon Stoneware Batter Pail with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Athens, NY origin, circa 1860, ovoid form with tubular pouring spout, handle at rear, and wood-and-wire bail handle, decorated on the front with a brushed flower emanating from a leafy stem. Wear to spout. A small in-the-firing iron ping to rim on reverse. Two short, in-the-firing surface lines to handle on reverse. Small rim chips, one of which is glazed over. A very faint surface line to front, not visible on interior. Exfoliation to interior.
