Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Foliate Decoration, Stamped "SOMERSET. / POTTERSWORKS'", MA origin, circa 1860, cylindrical jug with flared spout, decorated with a slip-trailed foliate design, featuring a scrolled stem accented with spots. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. A 1 3/8" spout chip and minor spout nick. An in-the-firing contact mark to top of handle. Some pencil marks on top of spout. A small stone ping to shoulder, covered with traces of blue paint.
