Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Clover Decoration, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1870, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, squared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated on the front and reverse with a two-stemmed clover plant. Brushed cobalt highlights to handle terminals and a curving line of cobalt underneath each handle. Several areas of tight lines to surface, not visible on interior and possibly in-the-firing. A 1 1/2" chipped area to base and a smaller post-firing base chip. A lime ping at base on front. A short, minor in-the-firing separation line from rim on interior.
