Two-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Cobalt Foliate Decoration, Southeastern PA origin, circa 1860, ovoid pitcher with footed base and tooled collar, decorated around the body with four groups of graduated swags. Additional swag decoration encompassing the spout and decorating the left side of the spout. Brushed cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, from a sixty-year private collection. As-made condition with three recessed in-the-firing contact marks to body.
