Fine Small-Sized Cobalt-Stenciled Stoneware Canning Jar, Stenciled "Jas. Hamilton & Co. / Greensboro. Pa.", circa 1875, tapered jar with tooled shoulder and semi-squared wax sealer rim, decorated with a stenciled semi-circular design resembling a sunrise, between James Hamilton maker's stenciling. Excellent size and good color. Chips and roughness to interior of rim, some of which occurred in the firing. A small chip and minor wear to inner wax sealer rim. A tiny rim nick on reverse. Two short, faint surface lines to rim, which probably occurred in the firing. A minor in-the-firing ping to base on reverse and a tiny nick to base on reverse. H 6 5/8".
