Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Face Jug with Applied Snake, Signed "Chester Hewell", Gillsville, GA, fourth quarter 20th century, ovoid jug with applied porcelain teeth and kaolin eyes, the shoulder with applied figure of a snake with kaolin eyes and porcelain fangs. Surface covered in a dark-olive alkaline glaze. Underside incised "Chester Hewell". Provenance: Robert Meltzer Collection. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. H 11".
