Four-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "J. SWANK & CO. / JOHNSTOWN, PA", circa 1860, semi-ovoid jar with squared rim and ribbed lug handles, decorated on the front and reverse with two brushed tulips. Stylized flower blossom decoration to handle terminals. Area under one handle decorated with four cobalt dashes. Area under opposite handle impressed with J. Swank & Co. maker's mark. Cracks and tight lines throughout much of jar, including painted restoration on one side and a sealed crack in underside.
