One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Incised Drape Decoration, Northeastern U.S. origin, circa 1830, ovoid jug with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded spout, decorated with an incised and cobalt-highlighted drape design, accented with stylized tassels and diagonal slashes on the interior. This decoration mimics earlier designs from Manhattan, NY. Brushed cobalt highlights to handle terminals. A 2 1/4" x 1 1/8" flake to underside. A 2" band of matte, in-the-firing residue to base.
