Five-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "J. WEAVER", Beaver, PA origin, circa 1865, semi-ovoid jar with tooled accents, semi-squared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a large design of a tulip plant bearing two blossoms and heavily-brushed leaves. Brushed cobalt highlights to maker's mark and handle terminals. A network of thin cracks to rim on reverse. Some fry to cobalt. A small chip to interior of rim. Two tiny nicks and some light wear to inner rim where a lid would rest. A small chip to one handle. Other light wear to handles.
