Fine Half-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1840, squat-shaped pitcher with footed base and tooled rim, decorated with a sweeping flowering vine design extending completely around the body. Chain link decoration to collar. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Exceptional form, color, and decoration. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, purchased by the consignor's parents decades ago. A 1" in-the-firing contact mark to reverse and a minor base nick. H 7 1/2".
