Stoneware Canning Jar with Wheeling, WV Advertising, Greensboro, PA origin, circa 1875, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder and wax sealer rim, featuring the stenciled cobalt advertising "H.F. BEHRENS. / GROCER. / 2217 & 2219 / MARKET STREET / WHEELING, W. VA. / SOUTH BRANCH 3601 / JACOB ST.". Large network of hairlines to base area on reverse, becoming thinner crazing at shoulder area. One line extends onto underside. Additional lesser crazing to far right side of jar's front and a minor surface line after the "G." in "WHEELING.". Nicks to interior of rim. A minor nick to inner wax sealer rim. H 6 7/8".
