Two Cobalt-Stenciled Stoneware Canning Jars, circa 1875, both of similar tapered form with wax sealer rim, one stenciled "BOYERS KNOTT / PALATINE / WVA", West Virginia origin, the other with stenciled floral motif, Western PA origin. Palatine jar with 2" rim chip, heavy chipping to interior rim area, and a 1 3/4" and 1 3/8" reglued base chip on front. Other jar in excellent condition with a tiny nick on interior of rim and a small in-the-firing chip to underside. H (of Palatine jar) 10 1/2".
