Scarce One-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Cream Jar with Stenciled Federal Eagle Motif, Stenciled "A.P. Donaghho, / Fredericktown,", circa 1870, ovoid jar with flattened rim, decorated with a crisply-stenciled design of a Federal eagle clutching an olive branch and arrows, below the desirable stenciled signature of Alexander P. Donaghho, used during his early Fredericktown, PA period. An approximately 3" x 2" restored area on right side of jar's front, covering where the abbreviation "Pa" would have been, additionally covering the upper wing and crest of the eagle. An additional approximately 4" x 3" restored area to surface of shoulder on reverse. Some light wear to interior of rim.
