Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "J. & E. NORTON / BENNINGTON VT", circa 1855, cylindrical jar with rounded shoulder, applied lug handles, and flared rim, the front decorated with a stylized floral spray accented with dots and curled trails. Light cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Shallow chipping to left handle. A chip and shallow 1" area of chipping to interior of rim. Numerous nicks to inner rim, where a lid would rest.
