Rare One-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Elaborate Stenciled Cobalt Star Decoration, Western PA origin, circa 1875, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded rim, decorated with nine stenciled stars above a large circular stenciled star motif. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with an in-the-firing contact mark to upper portion of large star at base, as well as a minor ping to shoulder.
